A Gay Affair

Organized by Gary Paul Baker, the event presented The First Annual, A Gay Affair Award and Art Show Fundraiser with Monterey Peninsula Pride on Sunday, October 13th in 2019.

Mai Ryuno was invited as one of 10 artists featured at the event to do a participatory art performance titled "Color Me Rainbow". She also created an interactive art installation with PFG's playful soft sculptures of sea creatures such as sardines and giant kelp, which were inspired by the local community. For the performance, Mai invited guests to paint her dress with the dye to make it colorful as a result of collaboration between the guests and the artist .

A Gay Affair raised money for the LGBTQ Community and Monterey Peninsula Pride, created a platform for people to meet new people, and discussed local community events, politics, initiatives, and educational awareness. It also honored and celebrated community contributors with food, drinks, art and music.
