STUDENt Experience

At Play Full Ground, being a student means stepping into a different relationship with learning.

The day begins with self-directed exploration, moves into creative projects and courses, and grows into collaboration and shared responsibility. Students learn by observing, experimenting, reflecting, and making together—discovering that curiosity leads to insight and imagination shapes real experiences.

Learning is not separated into subjects or predetermined outcomes. It unfolds through studio practice, dialogue, experimentation, and attention to lived experience. Over time, students develop skills across ideas, creativity, and problem-solving while cultivating confidence, agency, and ownership of their learning.
A Day at Play Full Ground
A day that turns questions into projects and projects into creative agency.

At Play Full Ground, a student’s day is designed to move from curiosity to action to reflection, helping students develop creative agency.
Morning: Independent Learning
— Think
Students begin the day exploring ideas and gathering inspiration. Through observation, research, and reflection, they ask questions and notice patterns that guide their projects. This self-directed time builds focus, attention, and the ability to take ownership of their learning.
Afternoon: Creative Project Studio — Do
In the afternoon, students move into hands-on experimentation and creation. They prototype, play, and iterate, embracing trial and error as a natural part of learning. Studio work helps students deepen understanding, take creative risks, and develop confidence in their ideas.
Afternoon:
Co-Creation Studio
— Share
Students bring their ideas to life and collaborate with peers. They present work, exchange feedback, and reflect on their process. Co-creation fosters communication, critical thinking, and collaboration while reinforcing that learning is a shared, participatory experience.
From Idea to Action
Think. Do. Share. (and repeat)

Turn imagination into meaningful projects that grow from curiosity, reflection, and collaboration. Students explore, experiment, and iterate, developing ideas into work that matters to them and their community.
THINK
Observing, researching, and reflecting—asking questions, noticing patterns, and collecting ideas to inform their projects.
DO
Experiment, prototype, and iterate, embracing trial and error as a natural part of creative exploration.
SHARE
Presenting their ideas, gathering feedback, and reflecting on both process and outcome, developing insight and confidence along the way.
Academics
Knowledge • Inspiration • Empowerment

Students explore ideas across fields of knowledge—history, science, literature, and more—guided by curiosity and inquiry. Learning is student-driven, connecting understanding with creativity and reflection, building skills for critical thinking, problem-solving, and lifelong exploration.

CREATIVITY
Expression • Communication • Critical Thinking
Creative projects invite students to discover their voice, collaborate with peers, and approach challenges as opportunities. Students learn to express ideas clearly, connect with others, and experiment with new ways of seeing and making.
CREATIVITY IS YOU

At Play Full Ground, we believe everyone has the capacity to be an artist. Creativity isn’t defined by technical skill—it’s expressed through curiosity, resourcefulness, and openness in everyday learning.

Through hands-on projects, independent exploration, and collaborative studio work, students develop the habits and skills that make creativity a living part of their day. They learn to notice, question, experiment, and communicate their ideas, building confidence, adaptability, and the ability to work with others.

Our model, rooted in experimentation, social engagement, and reflection, empowers students to use creativity not just to make art, but to understand themselves, navigate challenges, and contribute thoughtfully to their communities.
Glocal Education
From Self to World

Our curriculum guides students on a journey from self-discovery to global awareness, helping them develop independence, empathy, and responsibility while cultivating creative agency.

1
Self
Cultivate awareness, confidence, and authentic expression through observation, reflection, and experimentation. Students learn to notice, question, and take initiative in their own learning.

2
Loved ones
Take meaningful actions for family and friends, discovering that growth often happens when stepping beyond comfort zones and connecting curiosity with care.

3
Community
Collaborate with peers and local communities to foster social responsibility, belonging, and shared problem-solving. Students apply ideas from the studio to real-world contexts, building both confidence and collaboration skills.
4
World
Expand learning to global challenges. Students connect ideas, actions, and creativity to inspire positive change and contribute thoughtfully beyond their immediate community.

Wellbeing and Support
At Play Full Ground, learning is a creative act—and so is caring for ourselves and each other. Growth happens not only through ideas and projects, but also through connection, reflection, and compassion.

Students and families have access to guidance from Dionne Ybarra, Associate Clinical Social Worker and founder of The Wahine Project, who offers a free consultation to help students navigate challenges and connect with community resources.
